Recently, Saudi Arabia’s defence minister visited Türkiye to boost the defence relationship between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia purchased more than $15 billion in arms from Türkiye in the past ten years. Recently, Saudi Arabia purchased some Turkish drones and tanks. It will total around $900 million dollars.
In that visit, Saudi Arabia expressed their interest in buying more than hundreds of fifth-generation stealth fighter jets from Türkiye. Türkiye is making their own fifth-generation fighter jets named KAAN. This is a multirole 5th generation fighter jet with the speed of Mach 2.3. Some defence analysts are saying that KAAN could take over the F-35A and directly challenge the F-22 Raptor.
India is rapidly increasing its military power
Why does Saudi want fighter jets from Türkiye?

Saudi Arabia is located in the centre of the Middle East. Where wars are their daily routine. Sometimes, they start fighting each other, and sometimes foreign countries attack them. The neighbouring countries of Saudi Arabia are facing a similar situation. However, Saudi Arabia is still remaining stable. But no one can predict the future. Currently, the economy of Saudi Arabia is growing so rapidly. That’s why a large amount of money is being spent to upgrade its military power.
Pakistan has acquired more than 40 fifth-generation stealth fighter jets from China
The current defence budget of Saudi Arabia is around $100 billion. Which makes them the world’s third-largest defence budget. The Saudi military is quite modern nowadays. However, their Air Force is not strong enough. They have only some American-made F-18 Hornets and F-15 Eagles. On the other hand, the enemy country already has fifth-generation stealth fighter jets from the USA.
Myanmar is dividing into two parts
For these reasons, Saudi Arabia needs to buy more advanced fighter jets. They don’t have any option to purchase new fighter jets. That’s why they’re now trying to acquire the Turkish-made fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, KAAN. And Ankara also gives a green signal to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan already ordered 125 fifth-generation stealth fighter jets from Türkiye, and Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the UAE also showed their interest in acquiring KAAN.
